My Home Town

Hi, I'm Rei.
I'm from Japan. My home town is called Kamakura, which is one of the cities of Kanagawa Prefecture. Kanagawa Prefecture is in the south from Tokyo.

My home town Kamakura is very old and on the coast. It is famous for temples and shrines. There is a lot of ancient temples and shrines. One of the most famous things is "Daibutsu", which is a kind of God.

And these temples and shrines have nice gardens so that we enjoy the flowers or red leaves in each season. I recommend you to visit there in early summer because you can see the beautiful Japanese hydrangea! It must be amazing!

There are lots of places in Japan, which you have a wonderful experience like that!

  1. I've never been there, but I'd love to, Rei.

    It looks amazing.

The photos remind me a bit of Nara, near Kyoto, which I visited maybe ten years ago now.

I really admire the Japanese habit of enjoying watching nature and seeing the seasons change. I wish we had more traditions like this here. I don't know if you know the old Buddhist idea of MONO NO AWARE, but this always makes me think of things like watching the flowers.

    Thanks for writing.
