Rabbit Bubble

About 140 years ago called "Meiji era" in Japan, a merchant sold rabbits which had imported from foreign country. He said "if you give rabbits some leftover vegetables, you can get furs used to duvet, meat for eat, and leather clothes for children".
Rabbits were so easy to grow and useful that they caught on people. Many people wanted to have them before long. Their value was gradually risen as people have them. In addition, if the pattern of the rabbits is rare, they would be sold on more expensive price. For some years a while, the worth of them continued to rise and didn't stop. Some people went so far as to kill other person to get valuable and rare rabbits.
It became a big problem in Japan, so the government imposed rabbits on tax called "Rabbit Tax". It was so heavy tax that the value of rabbits rapidly dropped down. No one supposed to have rabbits until the tax was abolished.
This story is an example of bubble. The worth of thing doesn't continue to rise if it is rabbits or tulips, and great stocks. Such an extraordinary economy doesn't also no matter how prominent grow.

Animals in the news

Here is a horrible story about a cruel dog owner in Scotland.

A Scottish woman has been banned from keeping animals after she tied up her dog and then left it without food or water for days while she went out drinking!

Basically, this woman abandoned her dog for a couple of days and went off to meet friends of hers, who she went drinking with. To control the dog when she was out, she used the dog's lead and tied it to the top of a cupboard door. This meant the dog could only move a tiny little bit - and couldn't lie down at all!

The next-door neighbours heard the dog barking and crying and called the RSPCA. This is an organisation we have here that helps to look after animals. RSPCA stands for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. They went to the house and found the dog and then reported the incident to the police.

The woman was taken to curt and found guilty of treating her dog badly. The court banned her from keeping any animals for life! The dog was taken into care and the RSPCA are now looking after it.

If you want to read more about the RSPCA and what they do, here's their website.

Scar Face

I haven't had big scars. It is very happy not to have it. So I will speak a big trouble about scars.
One day morning, I have been going to bed. I woke up and went to washstand to wash my face.
When I saw my face, I was surprised too much. There were two scars between both of cheeks and lip. But they weren't scars. It was so-called wrinkle. (I didn't know the word exactly. Looking over it, it seems to be "Nasolabial fold".) Though it was cured immediately, I was afraid of. It was when I felt that I grew old.
It is sure that most people have wrinkle between cheek and lip if they grow up. Probably most of them will care about if it appears. But it cannot be avoided.
Therefore, I thought that I shouldn't fear of my "scar face" .
Thank you.

I ask to my brother that let me to bring the Coke.  When was walking, I fell in the street and the Coke is broke.  I cut my hand left and my wrist with a glass; It´s cut my vein.

We come back at home; my father called to my aunt that she was nurse; after He brought me at the hospital by emergency. The doctor attended me quick because my wound was bleeding a lot.   I had to have six stitches.  I been to the doctor  After  of one week  for to remove the stitches, I´ve still got the scar.

I cannot stand-up and walked slowly because the pain and one of my leg cannot lift up when I walked .

When I sat down or lay down , my belly didn't pain .
I didn't know why ?

5 days passed , I went to see the doctor ( that is a private hospital in Hong Kong ) who gave me some pain-killer then I went home.

Unfortunate , the pain-killer was useless .

Next day , I went to see the doctor again and told the doctor ' the pain-killer is useless ' and I decided to stay at hospital because there are nurse and doctor look after me .

When I stayed at hospital , I stilled ate the pain-killer 3 days .

After 3 days the professional surgery doctor came to see me , he touched my belly and asked me where was pain ?

When he touched the pain point and I said ' Yes , here is pain ' the doctor made a notation ( mark ) ' x ' in my belly , and said ' you have to a operation tomorrow , this is a appendicitis .'

The insurance company paid for me , more then 40,000 Hong Kong dollar.

So , Do you know where is the appendix in your belly , right side or left side ?

If you don't know , I will show you my scar , is free .

My story about scar

Hello, I'm Jessie.

I have a small scar on my left wrist.

When I was maybe four or five , I was good with animals. I had two rabbits. They were very cute and I looked after them every day. My rabbits liked fresh grass very much, they needed to eat once a day. My Dad always prepared them for the rabbits.

But one week, he went on a business. I told Mam I could prepare the grass. When I was cutting grass in my garden, my left wrist blooded suddenly. I didn't know what had happened. My Mam treated the wound in time. Mam told me the edge of the leaf which grass cutting me was very sharp. It was't very serious. But in the following week I had to raise up my left arm when I was taking a shower.

After that I had never cut the grass, because raising up arm for long time wasn't a good memory for me.

Scar stories

I've got a little scar on my right eyebrow.
Luckily, you can't really see it unless you look really hard, but it's there!

When I was maybe three or four, I used to go to kindergarten.
One day I was playing and running around when I tripped and fell over.
As I fell, I hit my head on the corner of a table and cut my eyebrow open.
There was blood everywhere.

I had to go to hospital and have stitches - maybe four or five - and they shaved my eyebrow off as well, so I must've looked quite strange for a couple of weeks.

I've also got a scar on my shin - the bone between the ankle and the knee, the one you protect when you're playing football by wearing special pads. This wasn't a football accident, though. It's more stupid than that!

When I was 18 or 19, some friends of mine and me had been to the pub and had quite a few drinks and we were walking home. Anyway, for some stupid reason, I decided to try and kick a metal gate, but as I jumped up to kick the gate, I slipped and my foot missed the gate and I slipped right under the metal bar at the bottom of the gate and took all the skin off my shin. It was really, really painful. I had to go to hospital because I was bleeding quite heavily. I didn't need stitches, but they had to clean the wound up - to stop it getting infected. Ouch!

My home town

Hi,
I'm from Yokohama. I have lived there since birth. Yokohama is the capital city of Kanagawa Prefecture, which is in the south from Tokyo. It's a big port in the east of Kanagawa Prefecture and on the Tokyo Bay. It's the second largest city in japan by population after Tokyo and the population is about 3.7 million.

It's a modern city and has lots of modern buildings. One of its most famous buildings is Landmark Tower which is known for being the tallest building in Japan. The view from Landmark Tower is splendid. If the weather is good, you can look at Mt. Fuji.
It also has lots of loverly parks such as Yamashita Park. You can see lots of couple go out family go for a walk every weekend in this park. This park look out on the sea and it's good for you to relax, go for a walk and  go on a date!!
In addition, There are many old buildings such as a bulding built of red brick in the 19th and  early in the 20th century because Yokohama was one of the oldest cities that Japan opened a port to foreighn ships for trade in the 19th century, after then it quickly became the base of foreign trade in Japan and a global city, so there are many buildings under the influence of Western culture.

Yokohama have Yokohama Chinatown. It is the largest Chainatown in Japan and one of the largest in the world. There are lots of nice chinese restaurants and it is often really crowded. The number of Chinese shops and restaurants is about 250. It is the largest Chinatown not only in Japan but also in Asia. It is my favourite place, I often go out with my girlfriend for lunch.
Thanks.

Global City

Hello.
I'm from center of Japan. It is Tokyo. I have lived there since I was born.
I think that Tokyo is few place to travel although I might not notice. But We can do whatever we want to do. Price of things and land might expensive(in actual, they are falling), but I haven't felt inconvenient. Train is hardly late. The shops called Convenience store We can buy necessity are always open. Hospital and cloth shop is up-to-date. In addition, I think service of staff is the best of all over the world.
Of course, there are also some problems. The population of Tokyo is about 13 millions in spite of being small in space. The density of population is terrible. When I commuted to school, I must have been contained to full trains more than Baker Loo Line. It is so crazy.

Tokyo is called "Global City". It is one of the city deciding world affair. The rate of growing was tremendous till 20~30 years ago, but Tokyo is recession although all developed country is so. As a result of it, Tokyo doesn't only change this 20 years, but also increase many problems: aging, pension, politics, sovereign risk, too much vending machine and so on.
Finally, I will explain about pictures.
Second picture is the place "Shibuya" of Tokyo. There are always so many people. Especially, young people go out there.
Third picture is "Tokyo Sky Tree". It is under construction, but will be height of more than 600 meter. It is about twice as big as "Tokyo Tower".
Thank you.

Kyoto

Hi, I'm Kenya.
I'm from Kyoto in Japan.

Kyoto is very old city.
It has a lot of famous temples.
Many people visit there.
Kyoto is a big city, but we can relax with old buildings and nature.
If you come Kyoto, you enjoy sightseeing.
Thank you.

Shanghai

I come from Shanghai which is the largest city by population in China. Shanghai is now a major financial centre and the busiest port in the world. Shanghai grew in importance in the 19th century due to its favorable port location. Shanghai is in the eastern China; it borders Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces to the west. It experiences four distinct seasons. The features are hot summer, cold winter, warm spring and cool autumn. The annual average temperature is around 15.6 °C (60 °F) . The highest temperature is 32 °C (90 °F) in July & August and the lowest is -1 °C (30 °F) in January.

Shanghai was known as "Shopping Paradise" and "Oriental Paris". Shopping in Shanghai is one thing that travelers can't missing. Shanghai is also a popular tourist destination. It has many historical landmarks such as The Bund, City God Temple and Yuyuan Garden. Shanghai has a rich collection of buildings and structures of various architectural styles.

Shanghai has an extensive public transport system, largely based on tubes, buses and taxis. Payment of all these public transportation tools can be made by using the Shanghai Public Transportation Card. It's very convenient.

Reina

My home town

I spent my teenage years in a small town in the south of England called Rye. I doubt you'll know it. It's about seventy miles south of London and the nearest big town is Hastings, which is maybe fifty miles east of Brighton. As you can see from this map, Rye is on the coast and it's about halfway between Brighton and Dover.

Rye is quite a small town. The population is maybe around four thousand.
It's a very old, historic town and has lots of old buildings, some dating back over seven hundred years. One of its most famous buildings is an ancient pub called The Mermaid, which was built in the twelfth century. It's in a steep old cobbled street and is very popular with tourists.

For many centuries, England had very bad relations with France and the two countries were often at war. Rye was one of the towns most at risk from a French invasion and so it has an old castle, which was originally used to look out for French boats and to protect the town. It's called the Ypres Tower.

Quite a few famous people live in - or near - Rye. Perhaps the most famous is Paul McCartney, from the Beatles. In fact, I went to school with his daughters Mary and Stella. Mary was in my year at school!

I grew up in a Bed and Breakfast - a small family-run hotel - so I met lots and lots of foreign people when I was a kid. Tourists love Rye because it's very picturesque and pretty, but to be honest, when I was a teenager, I didn't enjoy it very much. I found most of the people there very conservative and narrow-minded and there was nothing to do in the evenings. I have to say, I couldn't wait to leave!

Now, though, I do like visiting it on a day-trips or for the weekend. I'm older now and can see that it is very beautiful - and the countryside around there is also quite amazing.

I just wouldn't want to ever live there again!

Champon Tarou!!

Hi,everyone.
My favourite food is champon. It is a noodle dish that is a regional cuisine of Nagasaki, Japan.
It is similar to ramen but unlike ramen, a thick noodle made for champon is added and then boiled with other ingredients and soup in a pan. In addition, champon is made by pork, seafood such as scallop and vegetables. A soup is made by pig bones and seafood. The color of champon is white. And Vinegar goes with it.
The champon restaurant near my university in Japan is Chmpon Taro. I go to Champon Taro twice a week for lunch. I always order the same thing, the following chanpon.
Champon is very nice and good value for money. If you're a student, you can increase the amount of noodle or vegetables free. Moreover, the service is good. the waiters're friendly.
There're lot of toppings such as a soft-boiled egg, a fried egg, fried chickens and cheese.
And vinegar, worcester souce curry powder go with it. You can make your best champon by these toppings. My favourite way to eat is at first, I eat it without adding any things and then add vinegar and cyrry powder. This way is best for me.
Thanks

Ra-men Jiro-!

My favourite food is ra-men. Ra-men is like a noodle in some kind of soup. Basically soup is soy-souce, miso, and sault.
It's a Japanese food and very popular food especially for young person. So there are many ra-men restaurants in Japan. But, we need to wait for 2~3hours if we want to eat in the most popular restaurants. Of cource, we cannot reserve anywhere.

The best ra-men restaurant for me is Jiro-. Jiro- stands in some places. But, taste is very defferent: there are good Jiro- and bad Jiro-. My favorite Jiro- is in Yokohama.

This is ra-men of Jiro-. The volume is enourmous. This contains many noodle under meat, vegitable, and garlic. So, I can't recommend for women. But, price and taste are fantastic. This is about 6 pounds. If you eat once, you will go again. I was addicted to it.
People who love Jiro- is called "Jirorian"

And I am Jirorian.
Thank you.
